BeFriender Update
Everyone is, at times, on a difficult journey and needs a caring companion who will listen, empathize and be a reminder of a caring, faith community. We currently have nine people who are participating in the training program that will be completed October 5, 2006. They will help enlarge and enhance the caring ministry of the church. The BeFrienders will provide care to those who are experiencing a need for a compassionate, listening presence. If you or someone you know would like to have a BeFriender visit, please contact Pastor Rose at the church office---472-2581. Please continue to pray for those involved in this very special and important ministry of the church.
The BeFriender Ministry continues to move forward. The leadership team held an informational meeting with 17 interested persons. Thirteen have proceeded in the interview process. We are really excited about the potential for all those who will participate in the 20 hours of training as well as for those who will be befriended.
BeFriender candidates will be trained in listening skills, the importance of confidentiality and will par ticipate in ongoing supervision to provide accountability and growth. Their training sessions will be held in late September and early October.
BeFrienders are willing to be a listening and caring presence to people who are experiencing grief, loss, long-term care concerns, loneliness and life-transition issues. Just because you may want a BeFriender to be a supportive presence doesn't mean that your family and friends are not meeting your needs. The BeFrienders are an integral part of the church's ministry of caring as a way of showing Christ's love and concern.

She will contact you to explain the program and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Please keep this ministry in your prayers as we begin our training and our visits in the name of Christ.
